Zac Efron’s longtime girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens will be lending her voice for a good cause this holiday season — she’s joining together with other young Hollywood stars to create an album whose proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics!

According to OK! Magazine, Vanessa will be joining up with Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Colbie Caillat, Sean Kingston, Leighton Meester, Kellie Pickler, Ashley Tisdale, and several others to produce “A Very Special Christmas: Volume 7.”

The album is set to be available for purchase on November 24th from Universal Music Enterprises. About the project, Timothy Shriver, Chairman and CEO of Special Olympics, said “This is a fantastic Christmas record created by and for a new generation that wants to make the world a better place.”

Since 1987, the albums have raised over $100 million for the Special Olympics!

The set of Zac Efron’s The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud has had a sort of “open door” policy for fans of Zac, with coned off areas and instructions that the fans need to remain quiet during filming. Today we got a few shots of what it looks like when Zac arrives on set!

Zac waved to his fans from the backseat of the car as he arrived on set, and the fans can also be seen waiting patiently in line and outside the cast trailers.

“The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud” is based on a book of the same name and is about the bond between two brothers, one of whom survives a tragic crash and one who doesn’t. It costars Kim Basinger and Amanda Crew, and is slated to be released sometime in 2010.

You can’t really find an article in list form that includes Zac Efron that doesn’t also include his longtime girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens! Zac recently made TotalFilm.com’s list of 100 Reasons to Embrace Movies in 2010, and of course, so did Vanessa!

Vanessa was a little bit further up the list at #36, and TotalFilm says:

“Currently best known for a curious mix of wholesome kids’ entertainment (High School Musical) and posing for naked pictures that swarm around the internet, Vanessa Hudgens will spend 2010 making her name as an actress of note – studio execs are already tapping into her fanbase by casting her in modern-day Beauty And The Beast riff Beastly.

“What’s more, 2010 will see her shoot Zack Snyder’s 2011-due Sucker Punch, taglined ‘Alice In Wonderland with machine guns’.

“That may be one for those who’ve found themselves Googling her name with the Safe Search off…”

Vanessa is currently in Vancouver shooting Sucker Punch, in which she stars as Blondie, a girl who tries to escape the mental institution she was placed in by her abusive stepfather, and who ultimately descends into an alternative reality. It’s set to be released in 2011.

In Beastly she stars as Linda Taylor, and the movie is a modern-day take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love. It co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Neil Patrick Harris and Mary-Kate Olsen, ans is slated for a July 2010 release.

TotalFilm.com recently listed their 100 reasons to go see a movie in 2010, and they listed Zac Efron as a reason to do so!

About Zac, listed as Reason #56, TotalFilm says:

“He may not play Orson Welles in Richard Linklater’s Me And Orson Welles (that honour falls to Christian McKay), but the boy hunk – who some prefer to Robert Pattinson – is the “Me”, a 17-year-old Richard Samuels, who persuades the eponymous theatre director to give him a part in Julius Caesar.

It’s a proper, non-High School Musical film. Testing. But not as testing as headlining Burr Steers’ The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud. Big year. Big, big year.”

Of course, I agree! I think Zac has done a great job proving he can do more solid roles — even comedy with this year’s 17 Again, or Hairspray from 2007 — and Me and Orson Welles is already getting fantastic reviews.

The movie, set in 1937, is about a young man named Richard Samuels (Zac), a teenager cast in the Mercury Theatre production of “Julius Caear” directed by a young Orson Welles. It co-stars Claire Danes and Christian McKay and opens in U.S. theaters on November 25th.

Probably not terribly surprising news that a former Disney star still most famous for her role in a musical goes around singing, but Vanessa Hudgens has admitted in an interview that she does it all the time!

Zac Efron’s longtime girlfriend recently stated that she catches herself singing constantly, usually spontaneously and during conversations with other people, and that it’s due to her work on the High School Musical movies:

“I hope people don’t expect that I always break out into song mid-conversation — but I normally do anyway. When people hear someone singing and they look to see who it is — it is usually me. I can’t help it — that’s what being in musical movies does to you.”

I have to admit I don’t think this would bother me too much — she’s got a beautiful voice and hey, you could always just view it as a free mini “concert” from Vanessa Hudgens!

Zac Efron and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens reportedly caught up sometime over the last few days (maybe after Vanessa’s flight back to Vancouver last night?) by having some dinner together with another couple.

The two, who are both currently filming separate movies in Vancouver, British Columbia, were apparently spotted at Goldfish Kitchen in Vancouver.

Their meal was supposedly off-menu and created just for them by the chef, and included wok tossed tempura squid, beef tataki and scallop risotto. Sounds delicious!
