‘Lost’ Writer Brian K. Vaughan Tapped to Adapt Stephen King’s ‘Under the Dome’ for Showtime

Filed in: Move Clips by admin on 11-08-11

Late this summer, it was declared that Stephen King‘s 2009 supernatural thriller Under the Dome would be hitting Showtime as a drama sequence, with a lookup for a author by now underway. Now, months later, previous Lost scribe and acclaimed comic book author Brian K. Vaughan has been tapped to pen the display, about a city in Maine that suddenly finds itself sealed off from the rest of the world by means of a mysterious power field. More particulars right after the jump.

Vaughan served a author and producer on ABC’s Misplaced throughout its 3rd, fourth, and fifth seasons, earning two Writers Guild of America nominations and one particular Emmy nomination. In addition, he’s also picked up numerous Eisner Awards for his comic e-book function, which incorporates the series Y: The Previous Gentleman, Runaways, Ex Machina, and Pride of Baghdad. Beneath the Dome is in excellent fingers, especially provided that the premise undoubtedly has shades of Missing.

Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Tv 1st optioned King’s ebook back in 2009, shortly right after its publication. Around that time, King described that it could grow to be an HBO miniseries, but we discovered this previous August that the challenge had landed at Showtime, and it now seems to be an ongoing series relatively than a mini. King will executive develop the undertaking, with DreamWorks Television’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

Here’s the synopsis of King’s first novel:

On an entirely regular, lovely fall day in Chester’s Mill, Maine, the city is inexplicably and all of a sudden sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible power subject. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener’s hand is severed as “the dome” comes down on it, men and women jogging errands in the neighboring city are divided from their households, and autos explode on influence. No one particular can fathom what this barrier is, where it arrived from, and when — or if — it will go absent. Dale Barbara, Iraq vet and now a small-order cook, finds himself teamed with a handful of intrepid citizens — city newspaper operator Julia Shumway, a physician’s assistant at the hospital, a pick-girl, and a few brave children. Against them stands Massive Jim Rennie, a politician who will cease at absolutely nothing — even murder — to hold the reins of energy, and his son, who is keeping a horrible secret in a dark pantry. But their principal adversary is the Dome itself. Simply because time is not just quick. It is jogging out.
